SATS: Another crochet hook case and Mason line

It’s another Show and Tell Saturday…but its Sunday. Yay for a shakeup! Ternie and I are being spoiled. We had a chance for a second date in the past month yesterday and what overly exhausted parents are going to pass that up? Not this couple. So that’s why no post yesterday.

If you remember my post from last week, I decided to start working on Christmas projects. In my mind the most difficult was a crochet hook case for my mother-in-law. I made myself a test case first so I decided to knock hers out of the way since it was fresh in my mind. I used my Dollar Tree yarn in Bernat Giggles Periwinkle Purple (affiliate link: If yarn purchased through this link I will be compensated a small amount for no additional charge to you). I’m glad I decided to do a test case because I was able to work out the kinks and my mother-in-law’s case turned out much better.

Yesterday when we picked up Turtle and Burger from the in-laws, Ternie’s mom gave me two rolls of mason line (one white and one black) because “they would make great shopping bags.” I took that as both a challenge and request so last night I sat down to see what I could come up with. So far I’m just going in circles which would be the bottom. I’m kinda thinking alternating black and white chevrons (ripples) similar to Burger’s afghan.

Lastly, I’ve been meaning to post this next part for over a month but I kept forgetting. We don’t go to Target very often but this is what I walked by last time we were there:

The company is named So Dorable. I couldn’t find a website but I did see they are also sold in Sears and Bed, Bath & Beyond which makes me think the items are massed produced somehow and not handmade. The items were cute but weren’t anything that any crocheter couldn’t make. With that being said, I’m glad crochet items are getting more exposure. Has anyone else noticed crochet items in their local stores? Any thoughts or opinions on what mass produced items could mean for those of us small businesses selling handmade items?
